Nokia 800 press shots emerge, three colors coming your way

Quite frankly, we almost lost count of the number of times we've seen leaked images and videos of it in the past four months. It all began back in June, when Mr. Elop himself accidentally (or not) showed it in front of a select crowd, and on, and on it went. Today, we continue the rumor cycle with leaked press shots of the Windows Phone running, Nokia 800.

As you can see above, the upcoming Windows Mango handset, which we came to know as Sea Ray, is an almost identical twin to the great looking Nokia N9. It even comes in the same color scheme as its MeeGo running cousin.

With stunning looks and a fresh Windows Phone OS on board, we cannot wait to see how the Finnish creation will fare against the Android and iOS heavyweights. The smartphone is expected to be officially launched next week (likely with a couple of other models) at Nokia World in London

The whopping excitement from what seemed to be ages waiting for the Galaxy Nexus with Ice Cream Sandwich to be announced, now turns into wondering when the device will be launched and most importantly how much of an impact it's going to make on your wallet.

The guys over at Sammyhub look like they have the answer. We already knew the Galaxy Nexus will be coming in November, but we didn't have any clue about the pricing.

The Galaxy Nexus will hit shelves in the United States, Norway, Japan, Canada and the UK first, starting in early to mid November. Verizon will be offering the Android 4.0 smartphone in the US, NTT DOCOMO will handle it in Japan. For the United Kingdom three carriers will offer the device - Three, Vodafone and O2 for a price range from £429 to about £515.

Next, the Nexus will hit Denmark, Finland and Sweden in late November and will cost 4400 DKK ($817), €649 ($897), 5500 SEK ($831), respectively. Sadly, the Netherlands will get the device some time in December for about the same price as Denmark - €649.

On the other hand, the UK retailer Clove has listed the 16GB version of the Galaxy Nexus for £514 including VAT and has been listed to arrive "early November".

After yesterday's Ice Cream Sandwich event, Samsung's president of all things mobile JK Shin made an interesting note about the freshly announced Galaxy Nexus and the ongoing patent attrition warfare with Apple.

Now, Samsung wants to put a stop to all the patent infringement cases with its top smartphones and has taken the first step to do so by designing the Galaxy Nexus from the ground up to avoid being drawn to yet another patent lawsuit.

"Now we will avoid everything we can and take patents very seriously," said Shin Jong-kyun and later added, "Patents are very complicated and can be difficult to identify, but Samsung tried to ensure that no known patent by Apple is included in the new Android smartphone."

So does this mean that Samsung admits that in their past products some Apple patents were indeed infringed? And is the Galaxy Nexus now immune from more patent lawsuits being designed from the ground up with this sole purpose?

Samsung's mobile chief doesn't even know the answer to that last one, saying "We will see if (the Galaxy Nexus) will be 100 percent free from Apple lawsuits." We guess only time will tell.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is finally official, comes in November

Finally, the news the whole Android community has been waiting for hasarrived! Samsung and Google announced in their Unpacked event in Hong Kong the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

It's been a heavy rumor period for the device, as the Galaxy Nexus leaked on a few occassions and most of what Samsung just announced isn't a particular surprise, but it's alteast official! The device is the first one of many more to come to run the newest version of the Android OS - Ice Cream Sandwich.

It is also the every first smartphone with an HD super AMOLED display, measuring at 4.65 inches boasting the resolution of 720x1280. The display is slightly curved, just like the Nexus S is, and now features a super quick response time of just 0.01ms.

Following the Honeycomb approach, the Galaxy Nexus lacks hardware control buttons in favor of virtual software ones, which are located on the bottom of the screen.

As we told you earlier today, under the hood the Galaxy Nexus is powered by the TI OMAP 4460 platform, boasting a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9-based processor and 1GB of RAM. At the back the device packs a 5MP camera capable of shooting 1080p video, while at the front, there's the usual 1.3MP camera for video chatting. With Ice Cream Sandwich, this snapper can take and automatically stitch shots to make a panorama, shoot a timelapse video and zoom while recording.

The Galaxy Nexus is fully future-proofed with LTE and NFC support on board, which should serve Google's Wallet project pretty well. Multiple carriers will be offering the smartphone in GSM HSPA version as well. The battery is now confirmed to be 1750mAh, which should keep it running for a day or two. The device will be offered in 16 or 32GB flavors expandable via a microSD card slot.

The hardware of the Galaxy Nexus is quite unique. On the bottom of the device hides a hidden notification area, which glows with a green dot when you get a new email, message or miss a call. The back cover is also covered with a specially designed material called "Hyper Skin" to protect it from slipping.

Well, we got a glimpse of it, and now after numerous leaks Motorola has finally dropped the curtain of the LTE-boasting Motorola DROID RAZR. Although it's the successor of the once hugely famous Motorola RAZR, the only thing it shares with it is the name.

For starters, the new DROID RAZR is a looker to behold. It features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, covered with Gorilla Glass display on a very slim and lightweight Kevlar-infused body, which at it's thinnest is just 7.1mm. This makes it the thinnest smartphone in the world. Mind you, there's also a noticeable hump at the back to house the 8MP 1080p video recording snapper.

Speaking of hardware, the Motorola DROID RAZR doesn't disappoint there either. It's powered by a OMAP 4430 chipset with a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and 1GB of RAM. Onboard storage is 16GB, but if you need more it's expandable via a microSD card.

Motorola Droid RAZR official photos

Motorola also promises 12.5 hours of talk time (on the Verizon network) and 8.9 of video playback thanks to the 1800mAh battery under the hood. The most interesting part of this phone however is not the hardware, but the material with which the hardware parts are wrapped into. Motorola say it's a special, water resistant stuff, which will protect the internals of the DROID RAZR if it gets accidentally drown.

The new DROID RAZR is expected to go on sale worldwide some time in November, although Verizon will start accepting pre-orders on October 27. As usual, there are some accessories you could pick up as well, most interesting of which is the Webtop laptop-like dock.

Looks like Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo just couldn't wait any longer and announced Google's next Nexus phone, the Galaxy Nexus, hours before its official unveil at the joint Google and Samsung event in Hong Kong. Luckily for us geeks, the carrier has let some of the promo materials for the Galaxy Nexus slip between its fingers and now we can finally see official full-size shot of the device.

Click the thumbnail to see the full-sized image

With the juicy brochure come in a new batch of detailed specs. We already knew about it's massive 4.65-inch 720x1280 HD super AMOLED display and that it'll run the newest version of Android 4.0, but now the processor is revealed as well. Unfortunately, it's not the Exynos powerhouse with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor we were lead to believe, but rather it's a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor on a TI OMAP 4460 chipset.

The Galaxy Nexus's measurements are out as well and by the looks of it, it's an impressively thin device. It measures at 136mm x 68mm x 8.8mm at its thinnest point and 11.5mm at its thickest. Sadly, there's no information on it's weight, but the battery will most likely be a 1,750mAh one.

As for the camera, unfortunately it's listed as 5MP one, capable of shooting 1080p full HD video, but we still remain hopeful that the European market will see a Galaxy Nexus with an 8MP sensor on the back as some insider sources suggest. Memory and storage remain the same as earlier expected, 1GB and 32GB respectively. LTE is definitely a go with the next Google phone and in the areas where it's not available, the Nexus will fallback to HSPA mode.

The event for the announcement of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung GALAXY Nexus is only a few hours away (3AM London time), so make sure you tune in later to get every new bit of information about both.

We're about twelve hours away from the Motorola event where they will be announcing the new DROID RAZR. Of course, they never mentioned the name of the device but the previous leaks and the teaser video provided enough clues. But if you think they were not enough, here comes the actual image of the phone.

This image was discovered by Droid-Life.com on Motorola's teaser site and gives us a good look at the new DROID RAZR. Well that's one name full of history. It must be said that it is indeed an attractive looking design, particularly the back with that sweet looking Carbon fiber adorning it.

You can also see the 4G LTE logo on the back, along with certain other details such as the FCC ID, which suggests that the battery is sealed. The back swiftly rises to a bulge near the top, where you can find the camera lens that claims to do 1080p video along with an LED flash and a loudspeaker.

On the side we can see the volume control keys and the power/lock key. The top has the headphone jack, USB port and what could be a microHDMI port.

The front also looks quite attractive, with a flush (Gorilla?) glass. We can see the front facing camera above the display and the four control keys and the microphone below. The display doesn't seem particularly big or maybe the phone is just too wide.

As for the rest of the details, we'll find those out soon enough.

RIM to offer all Blackberry users free apps starting October 19

RIM takes its apologies one step further after the nasty outage of RIM's servers which made all Blackberry users' life hell for a period of up to three days. Following the company's official excuse issued in a press release, now Research in Motion announced it will give away a selection of premium apps to all of its users for free.

And the applications which will be offered for free are not minor league. The list includes famous game titles such as SIMS 3, Bejeweled, N.O.V.A and apps like Shazam Encore, Vlingo Plus and Photo Editor Ultimate, with RIM promising that even more apps are yet to come

Siri Not Just for iPhone 4S

Siri, is one of the exclusive features in the iPhone 4S is very interesting. But in fact this feature can also be used on the previous iPhone.

Siri capabilities that Apple is indeed shown mengiurkan. This feature makes iPhone users 4S as if having a phone that can talk. No wonder the previous iPhone users envious made.

But apparently that feature is present exclusively for the iPhone 4S can also be used on the iPhone 4. This can be realized thanks to the ingenuity of application developers for IOS named, Steven Troughton Smith.

As quoted from 9to5Mac, Monday (17/10/2011), Siri applications work best seen in the iPhone 4. Users can talk just like on the iPhone 4S.

But not without a gap, the developer admits that they require special drivers for the GPU in the iPhone 4 to Siri run more smoothly. Well unfortunately, this software is only owned by Apple.

Although not perfect, but the experiments conducted the application developer's Irish decent raised thumb. And at least, is enough to prove that the hardware is capable of running Siri iPhone 4.

RIM has announced the new BlackBerry 9380 and 9790 smartphones. However, this is not your usual announcement, with detailed specs and press images. The announcement comes in the form of a blog post which was addressed towards the developer community, informing them of the new handsets.

There is very little information regarding the two phones available at this time. All that RIM has divulged is that the 9380 will have a full touchscreen interface like the Storm and a 3.2-inch, 480 x 360 resolution display. The 9790 on the other hand will have a 2.44-inch, 480 x 360 resolution display with a full QWERTY keypad. Of course, both the phones will be running the latest BlackBerry OS 7.

BlackBerry has released SDK with built-in simulators for each of these phones. This was actually the main purpose of the blog post. We're guessing the actual announcement will be happening soon enough.

New redsn0w tethered jailbreak for iOS5 out, iPhone 4S not supported

iOS 5 has been jailbroken as many times as there have been betas - now that the real-deal is out, it's time for another jailbreak. The iPhone Dev Team released a beta of redsn0w, a tethered jailbreak for Apple's iOS 5 running gadgets.

It's not complete yet, it's intended for devs of jailbroken apps that want to debug their applications, the Dev Team says there are still too many problems with this version of redsn0w to be useful for the regular users.

Also, the iPad 2 is not supported and neither is the new iPhone 4S (not that anyone has it yet, it officially launches on Tuesday). If you've hack-unlocked your iGadget, you should stay away from this jailbreak too.

This is a tethered jailbreak (except for the iPhone 3GS), meaning you have to boot your iPhone/iPod/iPad by hooking it up to a computer and using redsn0w every time you restart or things won't work as expected.

On the upside, there's a Windows version of redsn0w available now, not just Mac (but the iPhone Dev Team remind this is targeted at developers).

Anyway, you can get more details about this new version of redsn0w over at the Dev Team blog.

Nokia introduced a new member of its family of Symbian Belle-running smartphones. The Nokia 603 is a youthful looking, compact smartphone with a 3.5" ClearBlack LCD with IPS technology and a 1 GHz CPU.

The Nokia 603 screen has nHD resolution (360 x 640 pixels) and 1000 nits brightness, so it's probably the same unit that we saw on the Nokia 701. The smartphone offers quad-band 2G and tri-band 3G with 14 Mbps HSDPA and 5.7 Mbps HSUPA.

As for local connectivity, the Nokia 603 comes complete with GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, FM radio, a 3.5 mm audio jack and NFC. The smartphone has 2GB of on-board storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB thanks to the microSD card slot.

The Nokia 603 fixed-focus camera with an extended depth of field can capture 5 megapixel still and 720p video. Unfortunately, there's no front-facing camera so video-chatting with this one will be quite a challenge.

The Nokia 603 will cost €200 before taxes or subsidies and will come in a choice of colors. The front comes in either black or white and you have 6 different options for the back cover.

T-Mobile USA is readying a replacement for the Samsung Exhibit 4G, which is barely a few months old. It's called the Exhibit II 4G and is a T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy W (which we have previewed).

The Samsung Exhibit II 4G for T-Mobile drops the hardware home button and goes for four capacitive keys, but other than that it should bring the exact same package.

That includes a 3.7" WVGA screen, 1.4GHz single-core CPU with 512MB RAM, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 5MP camera with 720p video capture.

According to the leaked T-Mo roadmap, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G will launch on November 2 for $99 on a two-year contract.

Nokia 800 ad leaks, confirms the name of the WP smartphone

More proof that the Nokia 800 is going to be announced at Nokia World at the end of this month just came from India. It was brought by a leaked poster, advertising the availability of the Windows Phone Mango-running smartphone on Airtel.

The Nokia 800, which will share its design with the Nokia N9 (but for the three keys that have replaced the bottom part of the display) was previously said to be named Nokia Sun, but that name is nowhere to be seen on the poster. It was either a codename (though we also saw Sea Ray as the codename for this device) or the name of some carrier-specific edition of the smartphone.

The new leak brought no new information about the Nokia 800 specs, but those are pretty clear already. The Nokia flagship for Windows Phone will come with a 3.7" AMOLED of WVGA resolution, a 1.4 GHz CPU and a plastic unibody (that will hopefully be in-depth colored as the one of the N9).

We also got word of the availability of the Nokia 800 in India. The Asian country won't make it into the first wave to get WP7.5 devices by Nokia and it will have to wait until Q1 of 2012.

After Steve Job's death, Samsung and Google decided to postpone their 'Unpacked' event, saying that 'it wasn't the right time to announce a new product'. However, no information was given as to which date the event was postponed to.

But we are now hearing that it won't be far from now. According to Engadget, the event has been rescheduled to October 19 and the venue has been shifted to Hong Kong and will coincide with the AsiaD: All Things Digital event that will also be held in Hong Kong.

We are looking forward to an official announcement from Samsung/Google, which should be coming any time now, considering the proximity of the event.

Affordable S40-running Nokia X2-05 and C2-05 announced

Today Nokia unveiled a couple of new entry-level additions to its portfolio of mobile phones. The Nokia X2-05 and Nokia C2-05 are S40-running handsets with QVGA screens that should fit easily in any budget.

The Nokia C2-05 slider offers a 2" 65K-color LCD, VGA camera and a microSD card slot. FM radio, Bluetooth and microUSB connectivity are also on board the lightweight (98.5g) featurephone. On the network side of things dual-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE is as good at it gets, but at least there are two versions of it for the different parts of the globe.

The Nokia C2-05 will become available in Q4 and will cost €50 before taxes.

The Nokia X2-05 is a music-centered bar, packing a really powerful speaker. According to Nokia the perceived loudness of that one is 106 phons. An FM radio with a support for recording and a VGA camera are the other multimedia features of the phone.

At 87.8g, the Nokia X2-05 87.8g is even lighter than the C2-05, despite the larger screen. Much like its sibling though, the X2-05 packs a MicroSD card slot, dual-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and microUSB port.

Available in Black, Silver, White and Bright Red, the Nokia X2-05 will also ship in Q4 and is expected to cost around €46 before taxes.

WP Nokia 800 Sun official photos surface, N9 meets its long-lost twin

Just over two weeks before Nokia World kicks off and the Finnish company unveils its first WP smartphones, we got official photos of one of them. Promo materials of Nokia 800, which was previously rumored as Lumia just popped up, confirming that it will be one of the Nokia smartphones to appear at the event.

As you can see, the Nokia 800 body is almost identical to that of the Nokia N9. We've been playing with MeeGo-running flagship of the Finns for the past few days and we cannot see any reason why using the same design on a WP7 smartphone would be a bad idea.

The new leak nicely aligns with previous rumors, so there's every reason to believe that its real. The ads suggest that this will be the Nokia Sun, which as we previously heard will be the marketing name of the Nokia Sea Ray. And, if your memory serves you well, you'd know that the Sea Ray was supposed to be an N9-lookalike.

Specs-wise the Nokia Sun will reportedly offer a 3.7" WVGA AMOLED, Windows Phone Mango, a 1.4GHz CPU and 16GB of onboard storage. The smartphone should hit the shelves in the first half of November.

Is this enough to convince you to switch to a WP-running Nokia? Or are you hoping to see something even more impressive at Nokia World

We can expect the Samsung Galaxy S III sometime in 2012, if we are to believe what the photo below has to offer. The image in question not only tells us when, but what we can expect from the yet to be announced Samsung flagship.

In a slide detailing the progression of the Galaxy S family, the III sits in the top right, and next to it a juicy specs list follows.

Supposedly the Galaxy S III will bring to the table a Exynos 4212 1.8 GHz dual core (sorry not quad core just yet) processor, twinned with 2GBs of RAM. There's also a 4.6 inch Super AMOLED HD display that will provide HD resolution without the PenTile technology found in the current Samsung screens and to finish the list off, the upcoming S will supposedly have a whopping 12MP camera utilizing a W750 BSI CMOS sensor for image control.

The tipster who passed all this information on also mentioned a few other goodies, such as LTE and NFC support (which will tie in nicely with Google Wallet) as well as a flat display, more in line with the Galaxy S family and not as some suspected, akin to the upcoming Nexus Prime. Interestingly enough, the S III will also apparently include the four typical Android buttons, despite a 99% certainty that it will be running the latest Ice Cream Sandwich build of Google's mobile OS.

Now as a disclaimer to any leaked content we find floating about the internets, there are a number of things to increase the illegitamacy of this leak. For one, spelling errors are rife on the slide, alongside the original Galaxy S being misquoted to have run a Exynos chipset of its own. It also doesn't correlate entirely with the 4Chan specs of the Galaxy S III but there are some similarities.

It's probable that we'll get a display size of around 4.6 inches, a dual core nearing the 2GHz mark, a rear camera dipping into double digit megapixels and NFC support, but beyond that don't take what we're showing here as gospel, just a taste of things to come.

Windows Phone just recently reached a major milestone with the 7.5 update, commonly known as Mango, by adding multitasking and other big improvements to the OS. Check out what we thought of it here. Anyway, now there are two other major milestones in the works too - dual-core CPUs and LTE connectivity.

Andy Lees, head of the Windows Phone division, spoke to AllThingsD giving some detail on Microsoft's plans for Windows Phone. He thinks they're in a good position to take the role of the third player in the mobile OS world as an alternative to Android and iOS, with Mango helping to boost sales volumes.

As for dual-core CPUs, those are something that's being worked on but Lees didn’t give a time frame for when they might make it to market. Current top end WP phones run on 1.5GHz single-core CPUs and Lees thinks they'll stack up well enough against dual-core smartphones.

Microsoft wanted to wait until the software can make good use of the extra core. Seeing how Windows Phone only recently got multitasking support and not all apps support it yet, it will be a while until the OS is ready for two cores.

The decision not to include 4G for now was made because early generation LTE chipsets are quite power hungry. The technology will be included in future devices, when it's ready - but again, Lees gave no dates for when that will happen.

Microsoft is already looking forward to the next major update for the OS, but whether there will be a minor update first (like NoDo hit before Mango) hasn’t been decided yet.

Lees also commented on the patent-licensing deal between Microsoft and Samsung, saying that part of the deal includes stronger support for Windows Phone from Samsung. He likened the Samsung deal to the Nokia one, but allowed that it's "not quite as deep a dependence".

The Admiral has a portrait QWERTY design, not unlike the Motorola DROID Pro. However, the Admiral is quite unattractive and is not going to win any beauty contests any time soon. It's also described by the person who took the picture above as being too thin at the bottom and top-heavy, which makes it inconvenient to hold.

The phones is expected to have a 3.1-inch VGA display, 1.2GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8655, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, 1,860mAh battery and Motorola's custom UI running atop Android 2.3.

This means that after the update the homescreen will show just three icons at the bottom and even the application menu grid will be reduced to a 3x3 grid.

While we don't know the exact reason for this, it's not hard to imagine what it could be. Currently, Apple is in a legal battle with Samsung for copying the trade dress of the iPhone. After applying this update, the Galaxy S II UI will share very few similarities with the iPhone's UI, making Apple's complaint almost a non-issue.

Another change that this update will bring is a System Update widget. It will inform you of the current version of the software and if there are any new updates available.

The update should be available to Galaxy S II owners soon. Hopefully, the icon size change will be optional, as it seems like a waste of good display space that some users might like to keep.

I’m sure I don’t have to let you guys know that the iPhone 4S goes on pre-order at 12:01 tonight (3 a.m. ET) – well, technically it’s tomorrow morning, if you want to get all technical about it… Anyway, regardless of the generally underwhelmed reaction to the device, there’s no doubt in my mind that pre-orders will still reach astronomical numbers.

And although many of you have decided on the phone your going to purchase, the choice of which contract/carrier is an entirely different story. In the US, the iPhone 4S is available on AT&T, Verizon, and, for the first time, Sprint. As such, there are quite a lot of contract configurations to choose from, and frankly going through and comparing each carrier’s offers is slightly painful. Luckily, PCMag put together a very handy chart to assist all you future 4S owners out there in your search for the perfect plan. Check it out:

A day before the iPhone 4S announcement, I finally gave my own prediction on what would be released. I was expecting to be disappointed, and I’m sad to say, I was right. (Check here if you don’t believe me.) But, let’s be realistic, what was the difference between the iPhone 5 that was rumored and the 4S which was eventually launched? I say, not a huge deal.

Now, before I begin, let me start by saying that I was all up for having a redesigned form factor. In fact, I’ve hated the iPhone 4′s sharp corners and flat back ever since it was launched. So please don’t misunderstand this post as being a fanboy trying to make the iPhone 4S look better than it is. I’m not, I’m just looking realistically at the rumored iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S.

The leaked cases pointed to a larger device which was thinner, wider and had a 4″ display. A boxful of cases allegedly arrived at an AT&T store sometime last week showing the same changes in design. Obviously, the 4″ display is what would have caused the device to change dimensions. The new shape design was supposedly to cancel out the effects of “antennagate” symptoms. The external appearance is the only thing stopping people from believing it’s a smartphone that can take on the SuperUltraAndroid monsters. Surely it’s the overall user experience that really matters and not just how big it is?

iPhone 5 was rumored to have the same A5 processor, the same 8MP camera and be a “world phone”, compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks. So, it seems now – in people’s minds – that a larger display means a better device. To me, this is ludicrous logic. However great it would have been for gamers and users who consume large quantities of visual media, for the average Joe the 3.5″ Retina display is perfectly fine. With a pixel density of around 330ppi, it’s still the sharpest display out there.

Think, if you will, of other markets. Take a PC/Mac for example, is it better if it has a larger display? No. Is a TV better if it’s bigger? No. Why? Because “better” is a subjective term. I don’t need a handset with a 4″+ display, just like I don’t need a 3D-equipped 40″ LED TV. Apple knows its market, and it knows the iPhone 4S will sell. The problem with us tech-heads is that we got so excited by all the fantastic and amazing rumors about the iPhone 5 that we almost forgot who we’re dealing with. Apple does what it wants to do, and isn’t afraid of sticking with the same form factor. It’s us that have become entangled in the “bigger is better” mindset.

There were other rumors floating around about LTE, 12MP sensor etc. The problem with those was that there were no credible sources or leaks to back them up. Months ago Sony’s chief confirmed it was in talks to have its 8MP cameras in the next iPhone. LTE was also never an option in my mind. Globally it’s still a very young technology, and it would undoubtedly cause any device to become a little bit chunky. “Too many design compromises” meant Apple would never entertain LTE, not this year.

The iPhone 4S, in my mind, proves a lot of people wrong. Apple is not intimidated by its competition. The designers won’t create a 4″ behemoth just because Sammy and HTC do. If the iPhone 5 had been released as expected, with it’s 4″ display and new design, it would not have performed any better than the iPhone 4S. It would give the same overall experience, it would just look different. So, what I’m saying is: if you’re disappointed about the 4S (and I was), you’re essentially saying that having a different form factor makes a device better.

I don’t mind admitting it. I am disappointed, and I wanted a new form factor. But at the same time, I don’t think the 4S is as much of a let down as think it is. It’s essentially the rumored iPhone 5 in an iPhone 4 body. It can’t be that bad can it? Maybe I’m just in denial, but to me, my argument is logical. What do you think? Is the disappointment with the 4S just a reaction to having the same form factor? Are you just bored with the look and feel of the iPhone 4
